Spiritualism
Spiritualism is a religion, a philosophy and a science based upon the knowledge that our consciousness survives physical death - and that we can communicate with the Spirit World through mediumship.
Well I’m going to talk about the 7 principles that spiritualist follow, one of the most well known is Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. He has written a book on the history of spiritualism and most of the book has been put online at this site
http://www.spiritualist.tv/spiritualism ... pter1.html.
1) The Fatherhood of God.
2) The Brotherhood of Man.
3) Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels.
4) Continuous Existence of the Human Soul.
5) Personal Responsibility.
6) Compensation and Retribution hereafter for all Good and Evil Deeds done on Earth.
7) Eternal Progress open to every Human Soul.
Now spiritualist will meet weekly at churches sometimes twice a week, for the ones I’ve been to they have a guest medium at least once a week. The service follows a similar vein to other churches, singing, reading of thoughts or from spiritualist books, normally the medium will do a talk from the spirits something inspired by them.
Now as part of the spiritualist church one of the principles is to keep learning all through life and to that end a lot of churches have classes. There are two main types open and closed, open anyone with an interest can come in and learn. Closed your invited by the church to join that group and that could be a group towards your strengths. There are ones on working the platform building your skills to that level through training and finally onto practice evenings. Others are on basic mediumship or the healing aspect of spirit work.
The spiritualist way is that to me comes across as almost a form of Buddhism when you compare the two side by side. Spiritualism is deemed to of started in the 18th century properly before this religion was well known or understood by the western world.
Now these are the principles I follow but within spiritualism as with a lot of religions there are a variety of different types and each one has slightly different view on these same principles, see below...

The Spiritualist Association of Great Britain, 7 Principles
1) We believe in an Infinite Intelligence, Who governs all.
2) We believe that personal identity and all sentient forms of life survive physical death.
3) We believe that continuous existence and eternal progress occur for all in the Hereafter.
4) We believe in communion with the spiritual realms.
5) We believe that all of humanity is spiritually linked.
6) We believe that in the Hereafter, all must account for their actions on earth and will judge themselves accordingly.
7) We believe that all are responsible for the way they conduct their earthly lives.
Philosophy and Purpose
The primary purpose of the Spiritual Association of Great Britain is to offer evidence through Mediumship of the continuation of the personality after physical death, and to relieve suffering through spiritual healing.
I hope this gives you some idea of what spiritualism churches are like; I personally go to them for the calm feeling that being inside one gives me. I tend to hide at the back and just enjoy the calmness and once in a while I get something from someone I have loved and lost.
Love and light
